What do Valpak charge for a collection?
Valpak collection charges are based on the type of material that you wish to be collected, where it is, the quantity it is coming in and how often you want it to be taken away. There are two ways to get a quote – the first is to use the "quick enquiry form" and the other is to call our main number and arrange a visit from one of our local Valpak Recycling NW sales team members, who will be happy to come and guide you on the best service appropriate for the materials you want to deal with.
What do Valpak do with the material?
This depends on the type of material. In the majority of cases we will take the material to our Preston sorting plant and ensure that it is clear of anything which cannot be recycled. We will then bale and pack it so that it can be sold to paper mills, plastic recycling factories or aluminium smelts. The materials are then used to make new cardboard boxes, plastic products or new aluminium cans. Some materials ,such as hazardous waste, are blended by specialist handlers of the material to neutralise their damaging effects. Theseare then disposed of at licensed sites. Batteries and electrical and electronic materials are processed by licensed treatment centres, who will break the products down, remove any materials which can be recovered and reused and then process the remaining material in such a way that it is safe to dispose of. We have placed a number of short animations/ film clips to explain the material journey of many of these materials on our website.
