Members of staff in Lancashire County Council's Preston buildings found out how to recycle their old, broken or unwanted small electrical items during this year's national Recycle Week.
The focus of the national campaign was recycling small electrical items and staff were encouraged to bring along anything from home with a battery or a plug to one of two events held in the workplace. From broken toasters and kettles which had been gathering dust in the cupboard, to old mobile phones left in drawers and disused power tools that had been cluttering up the garage, over 100 items were collected at the two events for recycling by local company Recycling Lives.
A prize draw was held to encourage people to bring along their electricals to work, every item receiving an entry. Uniross kindly donated a number of battery chargers and rechargeable batteries as prizes.

There are now more ways than ever to give your electricals a new lease of life. Events like this made it easy for staff to dig out their unused small electricals, bring them to work and recycle them."
Janine continues, "I am very grateful to Valpak for all their help with the necessary registration paperwork to hold events such as these, and their part in organising the collection and treatment of the electricals collected by Recycling Lives as well as putting us in touch with Uniross who kindly donated prizes for the events. The events were very successful and Lancashire County Council staff were very keen to help to do their bit"
